I'm an award-winning Anchor / Reporter offering exceptional writing skills, as well as in-depth knowledge of news gathering, video editing and publishing tools. I am bilingual and excel in fast-paced environments. I am originally from Miami, Florida.
I am an Anchor and Reporter for KSAT 12 News in San Antonio, Texas. I have covered a high water rescue for 45 minutes straight LIVE on television. I covered Hurricane Harvey extensively as it made landfall and reported from Port Lavaca, Victoria, Rockport and Houston.
At KSAT 12 News I have reported extensively on the opioid crisis. I also have my own segment on KSAT 12 called "A Cutting Perspective." I tell original stories from barbershops all over San Antonio and talk to the community about different issues in their communities.
I was the Weekend Anchor and Reporter for KGBT in South Texas since 2014. I cover all types of stories including immigration, border corruption and the challenges young children in detention centers face. I have traveled to other parts of Texas to cover breaking news stories, including when Cuban migrants arrived in Laredo. I have also traveled to San Antonio to cover stories about emergency shelters in Texas.
I won an award for Hard News from the National Association of Hispanic Journalists for a story about cartel couriers in South Texas. My work covering Latino Issues also earned me an award nomination at the 2016 NAHJ Awards. I was also recognized with the lone star flag by Senator Eddie Lucio Jr. for my coverage on the border.
I have been a speaker for U.S. Border Patrol, Texas Department of Public Safety and other major agencies. I covered national news including the murder trial of a U.S. Border Patrol agent in 2017. I have experience in special reports and investigative pieces.
Prior to KGBT, I was a multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor for WJHG-TV, the NBC affiliate in Panama City, Fla. I started producing and reporting, but quickly got promoted to full-time multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor. I pitch ideas, shoot, interview and edit stories. I also perform solo live shots using TVU backpack system. I use social media to inform viewers of breaking news and developing stories. My beats include county government, court cases and education. Some of my stories that have made national headlines include, an exclusive with Sidney Good, who was involved in a parasailing accident in Panama City Beach, the search for the a missing Rice University student on spring break, little boy falls from hotel balcony and missing ambulance stolen from an EMS station.
I have been practicing journalism for the past six years. Prior to joining Panama City, I was a News Writer for WSVN, the FOX affiliate in Miami, Fla. I edited, wrote and produced stories. Some national stories I wrote included, the Boston Marathon Bombing, Oklahoma Tornado and many more. I use Final Cut, Avid, CNNSource and FoxSource on a daily basis.
My first television internship was in the summer of 2009, where I interned for MTV Networks. I have also interned for NBC Miami, producing for the 5 p.m. news show and anchored the annual intern newscast. I also participated in the Telemundo Media Futures program. I was part of the first class and spent two semesters learning the in’s and out’s of the Spanish news business.
I have reported as a multimedia journalist from Washington D.C., covering the USSA Legislative Conference for Florida International Universities newscast. I reported on the undocumented students in the United States and the issues they face, including the Dream Act. My package and web story was published in several outlets across the U.S.
I graduated from Florida International University with a B.S. in Journalism and Mass Communications, along with a minor in Tourism and Political Science.
